In the management of sports teams it’s often said that if you’re standing still you’re going backwards. Even when a team is winning titles the coach will be thinking of how to change things next year to keep that streak going. From the outside, to fans of the relentless climber, Dimension Data's release of Daniel Teklehaimanot seemed heartless. An African rider who showed well in Grand Tours and took multiple KOM jerseys was left without a team for a month into a new season. For Dimension Data his victories were old news as Team Manger Doug Ryder explained "When we look at Daniel and what our focus is going forward...we just didn’t have space for him any more.” When I was busy supplying 12 assists from right-back, my football manager was hard at work offering a job lot of tracksuit tops and some old nets to sign a lad from the next town who had white boots. Things change.
Not to put ourselves in the same bracket as Jock Stein, Clive Woodward and Patrick Lefévère, but we pride ourselves on striving to improve our offering every year. When designing new Chapeau! cycling clothing we can get a bit obsessive about the finest of details; from choosing the best zip to the ideal sleeve cut, but the most enjoyable is arguably the new season’s colours. This is especially true when we’ve evolved a jersey to a point that we’re super happy with and you tell us that you feel the same. Whether our Chapeau! Club jersey is already a firm favourite that you want in another colour or whether it’s new to you, the Spring / Summer 2018 range has something for everyone.
The lightweight that packs a punch
With raglan sleeves and an outstanding fit, the lightweight Club jersey is tailored for the contemporary cyclist. The slim fitting sleeves offer improved aerodynamics and optimum comfort, with a raw edge of ultra sharp tanlines. The modern, moisture wicking, breathable fabric performs when you do with three pockets for tools, arm warmers, food, paperback novel, whatever you like to carry. Like the guest at the diplomatic soirees, made up about a pile of almond flavoured chocolate treats, we hope you’re going to feel well looked after with our range of Club jerseys for 2018. Building on last year’s classic chest stripe we present a pared down logo jersey for the more minimalistic cyclist and the all new pattern jersey for those who like to stand out. Across the three jersey designs are 17 different colour combinations, rooted in our new seasonal colour ways. From the warm tones of reds and yellows, evoking memories of Spanish roads to the greens inspired by the swathes of forest land local to Chapeau! HQ. We have cool blues, a tribute to those skies so particular to the long days of summer and smokey greys for the barbecues we hope to be enjoying beneath them.

Completely new for this year we can now present the Women's Club jersey with the same aerodynamic raglan sleeves with a tailored specifically for women. Available in the chest stripe across six stunning colourways, the Women's Club is a contemporary jersey with timeless styling. Among the colours we're really excited about the Tangerine and Fig jerseys, pictured above, which appear alongside the always classic Black, Pewter & Indigo and the eye-popping Azalea. With the Club range alone there's enough choice to furnish an entire summer.
Show your true colours
In the pro peloton colour is an ever changing feast, whilst leaders jerseys remain faithful to their pink, yellow, red and polka, teams with new sponsors or kit manufacturers jump wildly or subtly across the spectrum. Owning a colour space amongst rival teams seems to prove difficult each year — only AG2R with their tactic of choosing the shorts colour no one else would touch truly works.
We are much freer with how we choose Chapeau!’s seasonal colour ways each year, inspired by a number of references, rarely by cycling itself.
